Members of the Sustainable and Resilient Regional and Tourism Development Laboratory (SuReLab) participated in the two-day fam trip entitled “GASTRONOMY TRAILS,” implemented by the Chios Local Development Company AAE OTA within the framework of the programme “Distinctive Greek Flavours II – Gastronomic Culture,” on Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 November 2024 in Chios.
Ms. Andriani Eirini Tsoukala, student of the Department of Tourism Economics and Management; Ms. Maria Ntoumi, Associate Professor and Director of the Laboratory; and Dr. Xenophon Stambelos, Chemist, presented part of the research findings conducted within the context of Ms. Tsoukala’s undergraduate thesis entitled: “The role of sustainable tourism in economic development, social inclusion, and social innovation. The case of the Chios mandarin.”
During the discussion that followed, the Laboratory’s research team emphasized the potential of the Chios mandarin as a connecting link between the agricultural economy and tourism, through research tools and models of sustainable and resilient development.
