Participation of Laboratory Members in an Oil Pollution Response Exercise
Members of the Laboratory of Sustainable and Resilient Regional and Tourism Development (SuReLab) participated in a marine oil pollution response exercise, held in Chios under the initiative of the Chios Port Authority.
The exercise took place in the area of the Chios Fish Market Pier and aimed to familiarise participants with procedures for the prevention and management of marine pollution incidents. During the exercise, participants observed and actively engaged in oil spill response scenarios, applying relevant techniques and protocols in practice.
The activity provided a meaningful experiential learning opportunity, reinforcing the connection between theoretical knowledge and practical applications in the fields of environmental protection and marine management.
SuReLab’s participation in such initiatives is part of its broader commitment to promoting sustainable development, raising environmental awareness, and enhancing crisis management skills in the tourism and transport sectors.
