SuReLab | Academic Research Laboratory – Laboratory for Sustainable and Resilient Regional and Tourism Development participated in the educational field visit organized by the Department of Tourism Economics and Management of the University of the Aegean to Kardamyla, Chios, which was successfully held on 17 May 2026, within the framework of the initiative “TODIT Discovers Chios.”
The activity was conducted following an invitation from the Women’s Association “Friends of the Chian Village”, in collaboration with Dr. Maria P. Doumi, Associate Professor at the Department of Tourism Economics and Management and Director of SuReLab.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore Kardamyla firsthand, a place distinguished by its rich historical, maritime, and cultural heritage. They were also introduced to the work, initiatives, and contributions of local organizations dedicated to preserving and promoting the area’s cultural legacy. The educational visit was additionally attended by Dr. Vasileios Ismyrlis, Assistant Professor, Anastasia Ntoumi, Laboratory Teaching Staff Member, and Eirini Chavranli.
The visit provided a valuable experience of experiential learning and community engagement, highlighting the importance of local cultural identity, collaboration with local stakeholders, and the active involvement of the academic community in understanding, preserving, and promoting the cultural wealth of Chios.
