EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY | Mandarin Routes

Members of the Sustainable and Resilient Regional and Tourism Development Laboratory (SuReLab) brought the “Mandarin Routes” to the thematic workshop “Linking Knowledge and Production with a Focus on the Chios Mandarin.” The workshop took place on 26/5/2025, within the framework of the Educational Action for Linking Knowledge and Production with a Focus on the Chios Mandarin, implemented by ETAH AAE OTA in cooperation with FoodOxys IKE, as part of the Interregional Cooperation Project “Distinctive Greek Flavours II: Greek Gastronomic Culture” under the Rural Development Programme (RDP) 2014–2020.

The Laboratory participated with the presentation “Local Production Meets Tourism Development: Walking through the Kampos of Chios” a research approach highlighting the cultural and touristic potential of the Chios Mandarin as an element of sustainable local development. It also demonstrated the importance of scientific knowledge and evidence-based strategic planning in strengthening local agri-tourism ecosystems, with emphasis on high-quality local products, landscape, and culture.

Representing the Sustainable and Resilient Regional and Tourism Development Laboratory (SuRe Lab) were Ms. Maria Ntoumi, Associate Professor, Director of SuRe Lab and Chair of the Department of Tourism Economics and Management; Mr. Iason Nikolaos Koufodontis, Assistant Professor in the same Department; Dr. Xenophon Stambelos, Chemist; Ms. Antigoni Maistrali, Tourism Entrepreneur, Economist, PhD Candidate in the Department; Ms. Argyro Koutsouradi, Entrepreneur, Agronomist, PhD Candidate in the Department and Ms. Eirini-Andriani Tsoukala, student of the Department.
