Visit of Laboratory Members to the New Facilities of the “Friends of the Chios Village” Association
Members of the Laboratory of Sustainable and Resilient Regional and Tourism Development (SuReLab), together with students of the Department of Tourism Economics and Management, conducted a visit to the new facilities of the “Friends of the Chios Village” Association.
During the visit, participants had the opportunity to explore the Association’s premises and activities first-hand, as well as to learn about its work in promoting and preserving local cultural heritage. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of such initiatives in supporting the local community and safeguarding the cultural identity of Chios.
The visit was also attended by the Director of SuReLab, Maria Ntoumi, who highlighted the importance of fostering connections between the academic community and civil society organisations, and of strengthening initiatives that promote sustainable local development.
The activity served as a valuable experiential learning opportunity for students, deepening their understanding of the significance of cultural heritage and active civic engagement in local communities.
