Members of the Sustainable and Resilient Regional and Tourism Development Laboratory (SuReLab) participated in the two-day fam trip entitled \u201cGASTRONOMY TRAILS,\u201d implemented by the Chios Local Development Company AAE OTA within the framework of the programme \u201cDistinctive Greek Flavours II \u2013 Gastronomic Culture,\u201d on Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 November 2024 in Chios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Andriani Eirini Tsoukala, student of the Department of Tourism Economics and Management; Ms. Maria Ntoumi, Associate Professor and Director of the Laboratory; and Dr. Xenophon Stambelos, Chemist, presented part of the research findings conducted within the context of Ms. Tsoukala\u2019s undergraduate thesis entitled: \u201cThe role of sustainable tourism in economic development, social inclusion, and social innovation. The case of the Chios mandarin.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the discussion that followed, the Laboratory\u2019s research team emphasized the potential of the Chios mandarin as a connecting link between the agricultural economy and tourism, through research tools and models of sustainable and resilient development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
