Members of the Sustainable and Resilient Regional and Tourism Development Laboratory (SuReLab), along with undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Department of Tourism Economics and Management, participated on Thursday, 12 December 2024, in an educational visit to the \u201cArgentiko Mansion\u201d in the Kampos of Chios, as part of the Laboratory\u2019s \u201cSustainable Cities and Communities\u201d activities. The visit was initiated by Ms. Maria Ntoumi, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organization of the visit was supported by Ms. Panoraia Poulaki, member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff, and Ms. Georgia Papadopoulou, Assistant Professor of the Department. Mr. Vasilis Ismyrlis, Assistant Professor of the Department, also participated in the visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the heart of Kampos, the Tomazos family opened the doors of the historic \u201cArgentiko Mansion\u201d for a unique visit, offering members of the Department an engaging experience of the history and culture of the area. Participants had the opportunity to explore the architecture and cultural heritage of the building and, guided by Mr. G. Giannoumis, tour the traditional citrus orchards. Ms. M. Martaki, President of the Cultural and Educational Association of Kampos, walked with the students through the area and, through her narration, brought the history of Kampos to life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This visit was a unique opportunity to discover the history and art of Kampos, while strengthening the Department\u2019s connection with the local community and the region\u2019s cultural heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
